Kapital Denim & Wool Jacket
Inspired by mid-century American jeans while teaching karate in the U.S., Toshikiyo Hirata founded what is now known as Kapital in 1985 in Kojima, Japan — where almost half of the nation’s denim is produced. The company focused on recreating heritage workwear, eventually instilling traditional Japanese embroidery, weaving, and dying techniques.
In 2002, Toshikiyo’s son Kazuhiro became the creative director, bringing with him a penchant for bandanas and hippie culture.
This patchwork denim and wool jacket aptly reflects this Japanese clothing brand's workwear meets bohemia aesthetic, in varying shades of blue and gray.
